Ethernet Services

Ethernet Access Direct is a leased line product delivering dedicated bandwidth direct to your property. There is no contention or sharing, just pure internet access at the speed you select.

Ethernet services will require a new Fibre Path back to the nearest Aggregation Node, this distance and complexity will determine the one-off installation charge, for example Aerial or Underground, Road Closures, New Ducts.

To determine the installation cost a surveyor must visit the site and produce a plan. Openreach will provide this survey unless your location is on-net with another carrier who can provide the tail.

Typical Installation Charges are between £1000 & £20,000 excluding VAT

Government Grants are available towards the Installation Costs

Once the surveyor has completed their report and installation charge is confirmed, you have 30 days in which to proceed or cancel the order.

Fibre Broadband on Demand

3585__500x550_fttp_ont_and_bbu_open_lid_openreach

Most areas with FTTC coverage have the option to request a bespoke Full Fibre build at their own expense.

Openreach Fibre on Demand is delivered via FTTP and GPON but is built just to the local Distribution Point (DP).

Fibre on Demand is only available as a fixed 300Mbps Download / 30Mbps Upload service.

After the initial 12 month term, the infrastructure reverts to native FTTP and any standard Fibre Broadband package can be ordered as required.

Fibre on Demand installations will require a new Fibre Splitter to be installed together with a Fibre Path back to the nearest Aggregation Node, this distance and complexity will determine the one-off installation charge, for example Aerial or Underground, Road Closures, New Ducts.

To determine the installation cost a surveyor must visit the site and produce a plan. Openreach charge £250 +VAT for the survey, and we require the full payment when proceeding with any Fibre on Demand quotation. (Openreach do offer a free desktop assessment but we do not offer this due to inaccurate records).

Typical Installation Charges are between £1000 & £20,000 excluding VAT

Government Grants are available towards the Installation Costs & Discounts are available for additional properties connected at the same Distribution Point.

Once the surveyor has completed their report and installation charge is confirmed, you have 30 days in which to proceed or cancel the order. Proceeding includes a £250 deduction for the survey cost, but cancelling does not refund the survey fee.

If on completing the survey Openreach are not able to proceed for any reason, the survey fee is refundable in full.

Fibre Broadband

3585__500x550_fttp_ont_and_bbu_open_lid_openreach

Full Fibre from Openreach (excluding Ethernet Circuits) is delivered via FTTP using a technology called GPON.

This is a shared fibre service with a passive splitter generally serving 32 properties. Each property can select from a range of speed profiles and unlike Copper Broadband, the selected speed is delivered regardless of distance.

All FTTP GPON services from Openreach are asymmetric with greater Download than Upload speeds.

FTTP installations will require a new Fibre cable to be installed to the property when first ordered. This will terminate at the ONT as shown above (without the cover) either with or without a Battery Backup facility.

The ONT connects to your Router via Ethernet.

We would recommend you explore our Hybrid Services as a faster more reliable alternative especially our Broadband Boost to increase upload speeds on any FTTP broadband line.

We offer 6 variants of Fibre Broadband, depending on the maximum speed required.

  • Managed network management appliance and app

Copper Broadband

Copper broadband for lines connected to a FTTC cabinet (green roadside cabinet)

If your copper line length is below 3000m and is able to support FTTC service, ie FTTC is available in your location, this is the product for your business line.

FTTC / VDSL varies dramatically with distance from the cabinet, within 450m you can expect excellent speeds (80Mbps Download, 20Mbps Upload) but as the distances increase the speed will drop rapidly. At ~1000m the download would be below 30Mbps (upload ~8Mbps) , At 2000m the download would be nearer 15Mbps and the upload would be around 1Mbps

We would recommend you explore our Hybrid Services as a faster more reliable alternative especially our Broadband Boost to increase upload speeds on any FTTC broadband line.

We offer 2 variants of Copper Broadband, depending on the maximum speed the line can support.

  • Managed network management appliance and app
  • 7 hour Openreach Fault Repair
  • Unlimited usage
  • No Connection Charge (New Line Installation excluded)
  • 12month Contract as standard (1 month option available)
  • Speeds vary according to line length and condition
Longer Lines – over 1000m
  • Average Download 29Mbps
  • Average Upload 5.7Mbps
Shorter Lines – below 1000m
  • Average Download 54Mbps
  • Average Upload 16.2Mbps

No Router included. We can supply a Draytek Vigor 130 modem if required*

ADSL2 based broadband for lines not connected to a FTTC cabinet.

If your copper line length is over 3000m and is unable to support FTTC service or FTTC is not available in your location this is the legacy product for your business line.

We only suggest ADSL2 for the most basic requirements, we would recommend you explore our Hybrid Services as a faster more reliable alternative.
